Alumni meet

The alumni meet at Ranade Institute concluded with great enthusiasm.

Pune, February 9, 2025: The grand alumni meet of the Ranade Institute, Department of Communication and Journalism of Savitribai Phule Pune University, was held with great enthusiasm. Former students, who have made their mark in various fields of journalism, participated in this event and reminisced about their old memories. The current students of the institute hosted the program.

The event began with a warm welcome for all the alumni. The chief guest was Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Suresh Gosavi, along with many former and current students of the institute. A heartfelt tribute was paid to the former head of the department, Dr. Kiran Thakur, during the meet. His absence was deeply felt, as he was the one who initiated the tradition of the alumni meet at Ranade Institute. It was due to his efforts that this gathering became an annual event. He always encouraged students to express their thoughts with confidence. The current head of the department, Dr. Sanjay Tambat, also fondly remembered him. Through Dr. Tambat’s words, the significant contributions of Dr. Thakur and his impact on students’ lives were evident. The alumni paid their respects to Dr. Thakur, pledging to keep his teachings alive in their hearts. Dr. Tambat then welcomed all the alumni and honored those who had completed 25 and 50 years since graduating from the institute.

Many alumni shared their career experiences with the students during the event. Some spoke about their success stories, inspiring budding journalists. Additionally, all attending alumni were given a special memento—an artistic sketch of the institute created by a former student. This heartfelt gift brought a sense of admiration and nostalgia to everyone who received it.

The alumni meet turned out to be a grand success due to the enthusiastic participation of the former students and the excellent planning by the institute. The attendees cherished the memorable experience and promised to reunite next year. The event was filled with joy as old friends reunited after years. Towards the end, everyone gathered for group photographs, relived their cherished memories, and wished each other success in their future endeavors. The gathering was truly a celebration of nostalgia, joy, and camaraderie.
