Union Budget Exhibition at SPPU: A Step Towards Financial Awareness.

Pune, February 15 – The Department of Economics at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has once again taken the initiative to bridge the gap between complex budget policies and public understanding. The Union Budget Exhibition, inaugurated on Friday by Dr. Parag Kalkar, Pro Vice-Chancellor of SPPU, aims to educate students and the general public about various aspects of the Union Budget 2024-25.

A Platform for Learning and Discussion

In his inaugural address, Dr. Kalkar emphasized the importance of budget awareness, stating that understanding concepts like budget deficit, fiscal policies, and economic planning is crucial in today’s financial landscape. He highlighted how such exhibitions play a vital role in making economic knowledge accessible to all.

Dr. Mansi Gore, the event coordinator, pointed out that this budget analysis is a part of the New Education Policy (NEP) and carries two academic credits for participating students. This integration ensures that financial literacy is not just an extracurricular activity but an essential part of academic growth.

Key Highlights of the Exhibition

The Head of the Economics Department, Prof. Surbhi Jain, reiterated that the exhibition is an annual event aimed at helping the general public understand budget policies and their implementation. The event showcases various aspects of the budget through student-led presentations and digital displays, making it an interactive and informative experience.

Some of the key topics covered include:
